Zelina Vega Thought Queen Of The Ring Crown Could Have Been Used Like A Women's Midcard Title

Zelina Vega comments on the possibility of WWE adding a women's midcard championship.

While female superstars can go after the Raw or SmackDown Women's Titles, or find a partner to challenge for Women's Tag Team Titles, there is no belt akin to the United States or Intercontinental Championship.

Zelina Vega would like to see that change, and had ideas to utilize the Queen of the Ring Crown in such a manner.

"I hope so," she said when asked by Fox News whether WWE should introduce a mid-card women’s title. "And to be fair, I thought that’s kind of what Queen of the Ring could have been. When I won that crown, I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m down to put it on the line.’ Like, we’ll have matches for the crown. There were so many ideas that I had for Queen of the Ring. But I think because it was just so new, and it was the first ever, you know, they put me in with Carmella, and it got kind of complicated to try and do all of that at once. I do think it would be beneficial definitely to have another title, another opportunity for other girls to win some gold."

Zelina won the first-ever Queen of the Ring tournament in 2021, and while she became Queen Zelina, she never defended the crown in an official capacity.

WWE was set to crown a new Queen of the Ring in 2023, but the event was changed to Night of Champions.

Vega will challenge Rhea Ripley for the SmackDown Women's Championship at WWE Backlash.
