Zelina Vega wants to be a fighting champion.
Zelina Vega is the second WWE Women's United States Champion in history. While she's still getting used to the history-making factor of it all, she definitely wants to be a fighting champion. Speaking to WESH 2 News in an effort to hype WWE SummerSlam 2025 happening in New Jersey, Vega noted that she's not sure what she'll be doing at the event, but she would like to have a singles match for the championship.
Vega said she would love to mix it up with Chelsea Green or Piper Niven again. However, she also wants to give Michin a chance.
"Well, I mean, obviously, we all know that it's going to be John Cena's final SummerSlam, so we're all really excited to see how that's going to go and just kind of see where he's going to take it, because he's inspired a lot of us, when it comes to his career and seeing as he's went from the ring to Hollywood as the same as The Rock, but it's just kind of sets all of us in this, you know, it's bittersweet, because, like I said, he has inspired a lot of us," she said.
"When it comes to me, I know the match I'd like to have. I don't know what's going to happen, obviously, but I do know that I want to be walking in with this title and walking out with it now, as far as the match goes, I mean, if Chelsea really wants to mix it up again, I'm fine with that I love wrestling Piper Niven. So, you can do something like that, or even give people a chance, like a Mia Yim, like give Michin a chance too. Her and I [go] back to wrestling on the indies together, and so to have a little bit of a tiebreaker moment would be really cool."
Zelina Vega is eager to prove herself a true fighting champion. She recently expressed her desire to defend the WWE Women’s U.S. Title not only in NXT but also in international promotions like AAA and STARDOM.
