Ziggler Explains Why He And The Miz Should Have Main Evented

Dolph Ziggler says his match at WWE No Mercy against The Miz was the true main event.

Ziggler recently won the WWE Intercontinental Championship by defeating The Miz in a championship versus career match. Ziggler put his career on the line and in an interview with Mirror, he talked about the stipulation.

"It made it that much more special, knowing most of the time, I don't win. It played into me going 'I have to step up, turn this around and build on it, or I have to go away, for good'. I was prepared to leave, with other options, but I never wanted to go. I always wanted to do this for the rest of my life. This was it, it came down to this match. No matter where you were on the card, you know that match was the main event of the show," said Ziggler.

Ziggler considered the match special before and after it occurred. On Talking Smack, Ziggler said he thought it should have been the main event over Randy Orton vs. Bray Wyatt.

"I didn't make that remark because I'm a fan of myself and thought this should be the main event - by the way if you're a superstar that's how people should think anyway every day - as a businessman and someone who loves the business and loves watching wrestling and enjoying the show, the emotion that was set up for months and years into that match, that's what made it the main event, no matter where you put it on the show. If anyone wants to argue with me, go to town," said Ziggler.

Ziggler attempted to give The Miz a rematch on Smackdown last week, The Miz did not take the offer. Ziggler says despite The Miz's behavior on WWE TV, he made the intercontinental championship mean more. Now a five time intercontinental champion, Ziggler says he wants to continue to elevate the title.

The interview with Mirror covers Ziggler's early career, Vince McMahon and almost retiring.
