At Survivor Series 2023, Zoey would challenge for the WWE Women’s World Championship against Rhea Ripley at the event, but was notably wearing her merchandise in the bout. Now, she has explained why.
In a new interview with DS Shin and Ring The Belle, Zoey Serrano shared that her gear maker informed her upon landing in Chicago for the show that the top would not be done in time for the show, leading to Zoey repurposing her merchandise for the match.
“You know what I wish I was more able to do in these moments is one, appreciate them, but two, just have fun. I think I put so much pressure on myself to the point where I forgot why I was doing this. You know, I wanted to do so well and make everyone else happy. That, like, I should be more excited about this, and also, another fun story about this match, my gear maker didn’t finish the gear. That is why I’m wearing a t-shirt. I literally land in Chicago, turn my phone on, and get a text message saying, ‘hey, I sent your pants, but the top’s not done.’ So I’m like, well, okay, I guess I have a merch shirt that I will wear on the biggest match of my life. But I love working Rhea, she’s fun. She has a lot. She’s so freaking talented. Wish I had more singles matches with her.”
