Zoey Serrano Says Wrestlers Were ‘Going Off Instinct’ During Pandemic Era Shows Without Fans

Zoey Serrano reflects on wrestling during the pandemic, noting talent would ‘go off instinct’ during the era of no fans at shows.

In early 2020, the Covid-19 Pandemic would start to travel worldwide, leaving live sports to continue without the presence of fans in arenas and stadiums around the world. This included in the world of professional wrestling’s, with WWE and AEW both hosting shows from the Thunderdome and Daily’s Place respectively.

While speaking to Fightful Overbooked and Joel Pearl in a new interview, Zoey Serrano was asked about wrestling during the pandemic, noting that wrestlers were forced to go off instinct due to no fans to bounce off of.

“It’s weird, right? Because it’s like you’re just… It’s really, really hard to explain. There’s nothing really to compare it to. It’s just a weird thing because now you usually feed off of the fans, but now you have nothing to feed off of, so now you’re just going off of instinct, which… I hope you would have in wrestling, but you never know.”
