WWE To Integrate LGBT Characters Into Programming

The WWE is taking a big step forward, and will apparently integrate LGBT characters into their show.

When speaking with NBC News, Stephanie McMahon said that they'll be adding LGBT content into WWE programming. She also commented GLAAD and said she's worked with them.

"We will integrate LGBT characters into our programming … and I do think there will be an opportunity to integrate some of those storylines in the near future. We’ve had GLAAD come in and speak to our entire writing team and give a whole tutorial on sensitivities, the right words, the wrong word [and] why those words matters. I think that with their guidance and support, we will be able to portray that [LGBT storyline] appropriately,” McMahon said.

The WWE has had openly gay talents in the form of Darren Young and Pat Patterson, in addition to Daria in NXT, but Stephanie McMahon rubbed some people the wrong way by saying that Young's character isn't necessarily gay.
