Yesterday at an NXT Live Event at the Download Festival in Derby, England, while competing in an 8 man tag, WWE UK high-flyer Mark Andrews suffered an injury and had to be stretchered to the back. Thankfully, it looks like he will be all right.
The injury occurred during a match that pitted Andrews, Drew McIntyre, Aleister Black and Roderick Strong against the team of WWE UK Champ Pete Dunne, NXT Champ Bobby Roode and NXT Tag Champs The Authors of Pain. Apparently Andrews was on the receiving end of a particularly vicious clothesline from AOP. He rolled to the floor while clutching his neck and was attended to by medical staff before being taken to the backstage area.
After such a scary scene, it's very fortunate that Andrews appears to be okay. WWE released a statement to their webpage which reads:
Andrews was quickly evaluated by WWE medical personnel. A statement passed along to WWE.com read, "A CT scan of Andrews came back negative, with just bruising evident. Mark would like to thank all his fans for their concern."
So at least some good news comes out of this, but it's worth remembering that wrestling is dangerous, and it could have been much worse. Also, The Authors of Pain are called that for a reason.
