Tony Khan Says WWE Did Not Reach Out To Have Jon Moxley Appear At WrestleMania XL

AEW was not contacted regarding Jon Moxley appearing at WrestleMania XL.

The main event between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns at WrestleMania XL Sunday featured run ins and callbacks, culminating with Cody finishing his story and defeating Reigns to win the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.

The Shield played a role in the match as their familiar entrance theme hit, paving way for Seth Rollins to interfere in the match. Rollins took a moment to finally enter the ring, and was immediately cut off by Reigns, and in that moment many fans online wondered if Jon Moxley wasn't about to make a run in.

Tony Khan confirmed to Liam Crowley of ComicBook that WWE did not contact AEW in regards to Moxley potentially appearing in the match.

Moxley, known to WWE fans at Dean Ambrose, was the third member of The Shield alongside Rollins and Reigns.

Moxley has been signed to AEW since 2019 after his WWE departure.

The history of The Shield played into the build up of Reigns vs. Rhodes, and the finish, as Reigns struck Rollins with the chair instead of hitting Cody.
