Ultimo Guerrero Talks Representing CMLL In AEW, MLW, NJPW Partnerships

Ultimo Guerrero discusses representing CMLL in partnerships with MLW, AEW, NJPW, and more.
Ultimo Guerrero is the current MLW National Openweight Champion. He defeated Matthew Justice to win that title in Arena Mexico. Now, he gets to represent CMLL proudly.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Fightful Español’s Luis Pulido, Guerrero reflected on the different alliances CMLL has been a part of through the years. He also spoke about how these alliances will continue to show strength and demonstrate the true power of pro wrestling.
“Well, I think that in the years that I joined the Council, which was in 1997, up to these years, I believe that the Council is living the best moment of wrestling in Mexico throughout its history. Arena Mexico is experiencing alliances that it had never had before. Yes, there were some UWA belts, there were other belts from when they did the Grand Prix at that time, and I remember we won a tournament, I don’t know what tournament was, I recall we (CMLL) won an X up there (Volador Jr. winning Ultimate X), we won it in 2007 or 2008, and we were going to TNA at that time, but it was not a complete relationship as the Consejo is living today with AEW, with MLW, with New Japan Pro-Wrestling. I mean, I was at this time of my maturity as a wrestler, I have thirty-five years as a professional wrestler, but now there are quite a few young people in CMLL and quite a few young people AEW, MLW, New Japan, many young people and it is nurturing the whole wrestling world. In this facet of my career, it’s a good thing I got to be at this stage and grabbing a little bit of what I can with these alliances. We, the wrestlers of the Council, are all very happy with these alliances that we have now, and may more alliances continue, may they continue with this strength, because they will demonstrate these alliances, and this strength will demonstrate what wrestling is.”
Ultimo Guerrero will be competing at MLW Fightland on September 13. Pick up tickets for the event here.
