Logan Paul Files Injunction Against Heritage Auctions Over Piece Of United Center Floor That Was Signed By Michael Jordan

Legal matters involving Logan Paul.
Logan Paul filed an injunction against Heritage Auctions in a Texas district court on September 25th. He is alleging concerns over a Michael Jordan-signed piece of United Center floor that Paul won in an auction.
Paul is claiming that he was not allowed to investigate the floor’s authenticity before Heritage Auctions obtained the payment, which was due on 9/25, per court records (via ESPN). Paul was told that he would lose his rights to the signed piece of floor if he did not meet the deadline.
The WWE star’s bid was for $562,555.42, including buyer’s premium, which is an extra fee that is usually a percentage of the final winning bid.
Paul’s counsel, Josh Bernstein of Akerman LLP, asked for a temporary restraining order and temporary injunction against Heritage Auctions. That was granted, and a court date for the injunction is scheduled for October 9th. Bernstein issued the following to ESPN:
It goes without saying that authenticity is everything in the collectibles community. Collectors like Logan deserve, and are entitled to, proof of authenticity that holds up under scrutiny and addresses glaring holes and inconsistencies.
The piece of floor is from the game floor that was used during the Chicago Bulls’ seasons from 1994-1998. The NBA team won three championships during that time period. Heritage Auctions had a certification from Upper Deck Authentication, with whom Michael Jordan has had a long-time exclusive partnership.
Heritage Auctions responded to the injunction with the following:
We stand behind every item that we sell. This lot would not have been included for sale at auction unless we were fully confident in its authenticity.
Paul expressed that the court’s condition does not match the court from the listed timeframe. Heritage claimed it was repainted and resurfaced.
The injunction notes that Upper Deck’s certification lists the years 1995-1998, but the authentication service PSA/DNA’s photo-matching certificate matched the floor to the Bulls’ court from the early 2000s.
