CJ Perry (Lana): After Donald Trump Became President, Vince McMahon Told Us, ‘No More Politics. It’s Too Controversial’

During her time in WWE, CJ Perry portrayed the “Ravishing Russian” Lana, managing her “Bulgarian Brute” Rusev.
Perry’s promos often leaned to a political side as she put over “Mother Russia” and took shots at America.
Speaking to TMZ Inside The Ring, Perry shared how Vince McMahon wrote her promos, but wanted to move away from politics when WWE Hall of Famer Donald Trump was elected President in 2016.
“When I was there for that ten years, Vince micromanaged all the promos. John Cena could change it. Bray Wyatt could do his own thing. Paul Heyman. Vince wrote my promos. The Russian stuff, he was absolutely hands on. I think he was using me as his puppet to talk about America. Once Trump became President, he sat me and Miro down and said, ‘No more politics. It’s too polarizing and controversial.’ (Barack) Obama, he was using me as his puppet and I was making global news. Vince thought it was the most hysterical thing,” said Perry.
Elsewhere during the interview, Perry revealed that Vince wanted Russian President Vladimir Putin to attend a WWE show. You can find her full comments here.
