Roderick Strong Wins CMLL World Heavyweight Title Shot

Roderick Strong defeated Hechicero to become the #1 Contender for the CMLL World Heavyweight Championship.

Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre hosted the January 16, 2026, edition of CMLL International Weekend. It took place at Arena Mexico in Mexico City, Mexico, and it aired on YouTube & Triller.

The show featured Roderick Strong & Hechicero battling out for a shot at the CMLL World Heavyweight Championship Match. After a dynamic match, Strong hit two Sick Knees to pick up the win.

The CMLL World Heavyweight Title is currently held by Claudio Castagnoli, who has held the title for over 50 days. He last defended the belt against Ultimo Guerrero on the 12/19 edition of CMLL Dream Match Friday.
