Swerve Strickland: Buddy Matthews Has A Lot To Offer, I Look Forward To Seeing Him Healthy

Swerve Strickland has praise for Buddy Matthews.

Fans haven’t seen Buddy Matthews since he suffered an ankle injury in February 2025 at AEW Grand Slam Australia. He underwent surgery in August, but in December, said he was still having nerve issues with numbness.

Speaking to Tim & Eli on Battleground, Swerve Strickland named Buddy as someone he looks forward to sharing the ring with.

“I’m waiting for one of the best talents all-around in this business to come back, and hopefully, he’s healthy and can do even better than he was before: Buddy Matthews. Shoutout to him. He’s one of those guys that is a dawg in the ring. I think me and him could do some great work and Iook forward to seeing him back and doing his own thing. I think he has a lot of to offer in the wrestling world and I would like to see him back healthy again,” he said.

It is unknown when Buddy will return to the ring.

Swerve will take on Brody King, Buddy’s former partner in AEW, at AEW Revolution on Sunday.
