Paige & Brie Bella Capture WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles at WrestleMania 42
New Women’s Tag Team Champions were crowned.
There was a Fatal 4-Way match at WrestleMania 42 for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. It was originally advertised that The Bella Twins (Nikki Bella & Brie Bella) would be competing in the match, but Nikki went down with an ankle injury in March, and her status for the match had been in question.
Come time for The Bellas’ entrance, Nikki was on a crutch, and she stated that she found an old friend to team with her sister. She then introduced former WWE Divas Champion Paige.
PWInsider first reported on 4/17 that Paige (Saraya) signed a contract with WWE, and that was corroborated by Fightful.
Brie and Paige competed against the following duos:
- Alexa Bliss & Charlotte Flair
- Bayley & Lyra Valkyria
- The Iressitable Forces (Nia Jax & Lash Legend) (c)
The backend of the match saw Nikki pull Charlotte out of the ring and hit her with the crutch. Bliss was standing on the top turnbuckle while that happened and proceeded to go for a Twisted Bliss onto Paige.
Paige countered by lifting her knees up and then picked Bliss up for a ‘Rampaige’ to capture the tag titles for herself and Brie.
