Hulk Hogan Revealed He Was Taking Enough Fentanyl That He Should’ve Been Dead During TNA Run
Hulk Hogan joined TNA in 2009, a year or so after his divorce from Linda where gave her 70%.
In the new “Real American” docuseries, which features the last interview with Hogan before his passing in July 2025, Hogan explained how the divorce led to his TNA run and more health issues.
“After the divorce, I had no money. I was broke. TNA saved me,” Hogan said.
Hogan was originally brought in to be an attraction, but soon became active in the ring despite his limited physical state. Hogan underwent multiple back surgeries and used a spinal cord stimulator to try and ease the pain and help his physical condition.
He was also taking a lot of fentanyl for the pain.
“I was taking 80-milligram fentanyls, two in the morning, stuffing them under my gums,” Hogan said. “I had two 300-milligram patches of fentanyl on my legs, and they gave me six, 1,500-milligram fentanyl lollipops to eat. I went to the pharmacy. He goes, ‘You should be dead. We have never seen a human being take this much fentanyl,'” said Hogan.
Hogan would continue to compete, wrestling in his last match in 2012.
All four episodes of “Real American” are now streaming on Netflix.
