Konosuke Takeshita Joins NJPW’s Hontai Faction At Wrestling Dontaku 2026
The newest member of Hontai.
Night two of NJPW’s Wrestling Dontaku show on May 4th kicked off with an NJPW World Television Championship match.
The champion Konosuke Takeshita defended the belt against Chase Owens. During the bout, Takeshita had to fight off Owens’ factionmates in HOUSE OF TORTURE, but he was able to overcome the odds to retain his title.
Post-match, Takeshita was attacked by the returning former IWGP Heavyweight Champion, SANADA, who had been on an indefinite hiatus from NJPW.
While delivering his backstage comments, Shota Umino, Toru Yano, and Aaron Wolf of the Hontai faction approached Takeshita and congratulated him on his title defense. Takeshita said it’s his second year with NJPW, and he’d decided that he’d forge his own path, but then asked if he could join Hontai.
His proposal was accepted, and Takeshita said he’s looking forward to taking down HOUSE OF TORTURE and facing other factions.
In AEW, Takeshita is a member of the Don Callis Family, but there has been a rift in the group. Takeshita is set to challenge fellow Don Callis Family member Kazuchika Okada for the AEW International Championship at Double or Nothing on May 24th.
