Shota Umino Issues Challenge To Andrade El Idolo, Wants To Come To AEW & Challenge For IWGP Global Title

Umino throws out another challenge.
Headlining night one of NJPW Wrestling Dontaku on May 3rd was Andrade El Idolo challenging Yota Tsuji for the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship.
In what was a 32-minute bout, El Idolo emerged victorious to capture his first title in New Japan Pro-Wrestling since 2013. Post-match, two potential challengers emerged in Shota Umino and Drilla Moloney.
El Idolo suggested a Triple Threat match for the title and told Umino and Moloney to let him know when and where.
On May 6th, New Japan presented the Ignition to Dominion show, and after Umino’s match, he delivered backstage comments and told Andrade to set up a match for him in AEW. Umino added that he has to bring the belt back to New Japan.

Umino last wrestled for AEW stateside on a taping of Rampage in June 2024.
