Kevin Knight talks about advice that was given to him by Darby Allin just three months into his wrestling career.
On tonight’s edition of AEW Dynamite, Knight is set to challenge Allin for the AEW World Championship, marking yet another world title challenge for ‘The Jet’. Allin and Knight have a long history together, with Knight partially being trained at Buddy Wayne’s wrestling academy.
While speaking to Bodyslam.net in a new interview, Kevin Knight was asked how he was preparing for his bout with Darby on tonight’s AEW Dynamite, noting he is following advice given to him by Darby three months into his wrestling career.
“I’m doing everything that I’ve always done, and the biggest thing that I’m doing is taking Darby Allin’s advice because when I was about three months into wrestling, I first met Darby because we came from the same school, the Buddy Wayne Academy, up in Seattle, Washington, and the first time I ever met him, he told me, ‘man, don’t waste time. Like, I know you’re early in your career, but the biggest thing I can tell you is don’t waste any time’, and I think I’ve just followed his advice throughout my career and made an impact everywhere I’ve been, and especially in AEW here in less than a year, a little over a year. I’m a two-time Trios champ, the current TNT champ, and now I’m going for the world title against Darby Allin. Again, the stars are aligning, and, you know, I’m just taking Darby’s advice. So I can only thank Darby for this opportunity, to be honest. So my training to answer your question going into this is just keep doing what I’m doing because obviously it’s been working. So I’m sticking to my vision and we’re going to keep it working, follow through with it tomorrow.”
Elsewhere in the same interview, Knight stated that he doesn’t believe he cheated to defeat MJF You can read more about that here.
