Tony Khan Says He Can’t Comment On The Status Of The New Day, Calls Them Great Wrestlers

New Day (Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods) confirmed their departure from WWE on May 4. When the news of their departure was announced on May 2, many in AEW, including MJF and FTR, made reference to the duo. They will be going by Austin Creed and Kofi moving forward.
At the ROH Supercard of Honor post-show, MuscleMan Malcolm asked Tony Khan about the potential of New Day joining AEW.
“I cannot comment, or I don’t think I should comment on wrestlers that still have a contractual obligation. As I understand it, I believe they are still obligated, and I don’t believe I’m allowed to talk to them. As such, I don’t feel it would be right to comment on them under the circumstances except to say that I think they are great wrestlers,” he said.
Fightful Select recently reported that “every AEW source that we have spoken to about Kofi and Austin Creed are pushing for AEW to sign them, including some big names.”
