Laredo Kid vs. Rey Fenix For AAA World Cruiserweight Championship Added To Noches de Los Grandes

Laredo Kid and Rey Fenix are running it back.
Over the next two weeks, Lucha Libre AAA will be presenting its Noches de Los Grandes special. The show will emanate from Monterrey, Mexico.
A new match has been added to the show lineup. During the 5/23 AAA on FOX broadcast, Laredo Kid defended the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship against Rey Fenix. Laredo has been champion since December 2024, and the defense against Fenix was his eighth.
As the bout was ongoing, Laredo faked a lower leg injury, and when the referee went to address the ringside crew about how he was going to handle the injury, Laredo low blowed Fenix.
He followed that up by hitting a frog splash onto Fenix and pinning him to retain the championship.
Backstage, Laredo ran into the new AAA General Manager, Rey Mysterio. Mysterio was not pleased with how Laredo won the match, so he granted Fenix a rematch for Noches de Los Grandes on May 30th.
