Gunther discusses the connection that Cody Rhodes has to wrestling fans and the approval he seeks from fans.

Throughout Cody Rhodes’ WWE career since making his return to WWE at WrestleMania 38, Cody has had the fans behind him, outside of one or two storylines. For his upcoming championship opponent Gunther, he believes that it is important to him.

While speaking to First Take in a new interview, Gunther spoke about Cody Rhodes seeking the approval of professional wrestling fan.

“If you look at the whole spectacle that Cody created, that whole fanfare, I question if he’s the champion out of the right reasons. I question if all of this that I respect, love, and honor so much, this sport is his main focus. I think it’s just a vehicle for him to get that attention from the people. I think to get recognition. Because you see that guy and you see a very confident champion, but I think deep down that’s what he is. That’s what he thrives off. If he doesn’t have the approval of the people, I don’t think he can give himself that approval. Now I’m the opposite. Most of the things I do when I say people don’t approve, but I have no issues looking myself honestly into the mirror and acknowledge myself. I’m going, yeah, you’re right. You’re saying is right.”

Cody Rhodes recently commented on Gunther looking to make their match about USA vs Europe. You can read more about that here.
