Briscoe is no stranger to hardcore wrestling, having competed in various stipulations over the years and is currently set to compete in a 12 man tag team match against team MJF at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.
While speaking to The Wrestling Classic in a new interview, Mark Briscoe spoke about ECW names that caught his eye early on in his wrestling fandom.
“I mean, when I first saw Sabu when, I mean, I guess I was going on, 10 or 11 years old and like wrestling and thought wrestling was cool. But then when I first saw Sabu, man, that was like, well, that’s my guy. There was a table every single match. I love Sabu, but I mean, shoot, all of them, man, all the classics, Sandman, Dreamer, I mean, all- New Jack. Jack was like, just insane, man. It was like all of man, just that that whole- I mean from the franchise, Shane Douglas and the triple threat and, um, Public Enemy and the Dudley’s man, like shoot the Dudley’s they come down there, no music just walked down there. I mean, oh, my goodness, and then, like, Masato Tanaka came in there and Mike Awesome had that crazy feud.”
Elsewhere in the same interview, Briscoe spoke about why fans still think of him as an underdog in AEW. You can read more about that here.
