Riddick Moss reflects on a scary landing during a match with Drew McIntyre at Elimination Chamber 2022.
At the event, Moss would take on McIntyre in a Falls Count Anywhere bout. During the course of the bout, Moss would be hit with an inverted Alabama Slam, landing on the top of his head.
While speaking to O’Hara and Friends, Riddick Moss reflected on the bump, noting that he ‘got lucky’.
“It was towards the end of the match, I knew the move didn’t go right but I felt fine. Right away the ref, Jess, came to check on me, she was like ‘Are you ok?’ I was like ‘Yeah, yeah I’m fine.’ Then she went back, talked to the back and said ‘Yeah, he says he’s ok, and I saw her go ‘Are you sure?’ They were like ‘Check him a few times.’ I remember (Baron) Corbin said that he was on the outside going ‘Oh my god, I’m going to have to finish this match. What do I need to do?’ Then I just was fine and we kept going. I had a sore neck afterwards. There was no damage or anything. I know I was on the outside and Drew was throwing me over the announce table or something, and I heard Corey Graves say ‘I don’t even know how he’s walking right now,’ and I thought, ‘Hmm, maybe that was a little worse than I thought.’ Then I got to the back and I was like ‘Guys, I’m fine I swear,’ and they showed me the high def frame by frame where my neck just crunched, and I was like ‘Alright, let’s go check this thing out’ because that was nasty and I need to call my mom to make sure she knows I’m ok, cause yeah that was disgusting. In the moment it wasn’t that bad. I got lucky. It ended up being a reputational boost for me. But really, anytime I talk about it I want to stress, if I was hurt, it wouldn’t have been cool or smart of me to go on and keep performing. Like if you are hurt it’s not worth it. If you do have a concussion, if you do have a neck injury where something isn’t feeling right, whether it’s sport or wrestling, you can always work around that injury, it’s not worth it.”
Elsewhere in another interview, Moss spoke about transitioning from football to wrestling. You can read more about that here.
