Brett Lauderdale Talks HOOK In GCW, Praises Him For Being Collaborative
Brett Lauderdale talks HOOK in GCW.
The former TNT Champion made his debut for the company at their Race Against Time event in June, where he defeated Joey Janela in singles action. Then, later on in the month, HOOK challenged Atticus Cogar for the GCW World Championship at the Americaz Most Wanted show in Los Angeles.
Speaking with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp for a new interview, Brett Lauderdale talked about having the 27-year-old in GCW.
“GCW is in its own little space in terms of independents where there are people who wouldn’t normally do indies, but if there’s something that would make sense or be cool in GCW, a lot of people are more open-minded to doing it or trying it. Obviously, there’s a lot of people that work for AEW that came through GCW, so they can vouch for us and vouch for me in terms of how things are handled and just assuring him, ‘Hey, this is cool, in a space where you otherwise might not know.’ So in terms of having Hook come aboard it was a combination of, I think, he’s ready to get out there and do some more and gain some experience, and he has people telling him, ‘Listen, if you want to do that, go to GCW.’ That’s how the connection was made. It really wasn’t that difficult, just a handful of text messages and he’s down. He’s cool, he’s down. That’s where we’re at. He just wrestled Joey this past Friday in Cincinnati, which is an A town by the way, if you didn’t know and he did great.”
Lauderdale went on and praised HOOK for being open to feedback and direction.
“Well, it’s an A town for the indies. It’s different trying to draw 500 people as opposed to drawing 5,000 people. So it was great. Hook wrestled Joey Janela, and it was awesome. Hook was just so cool. He was very gracious. He arrived, he was down for whatever again, like I said, and the other thing that I thought was really cool about Hook was that listen, this is a TV wrestler and he has been for many years now, but he was very cool and interested in hearing feedback and direction, which I thought was really cool. We really collaborated on his segment and his match. Sometimes you have these TV guys who come in and they want to do it their way and only their way. Hook wanted to come in and he wanted to do it the GCW way, which I thought was really cool.”
