Brett Lauderdale Says Fetty Wap Had A Blast In GCW, Wants To See Him Wrestle
Brett Lauderdale discusses Fetty Wap’s appearance in GCW.
The popular rapper was a late addition to GCW Tournament Of Survival back in June. He ended up getting involved in a segment where he hit Tony Deppen with a bundle of light tubes.
Speaking with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp for a new interview, Lauderdale praised Fetty Wap for being down for whatever and easy to work with.
“Well, a lot of people have resurgences when they finally get out of prison, so that helps. But no, Fetty Wap’s awesome. How did it happen? The first piece is that he had a concert scheduled at the Showboat up at the Bourbon Room, formerly the House of Blues, the night of Tournament of Survival. So that already puts him in the building. The second piece is it just so happens that the promoter of the event and the company running his tour for these New Jersey dates is a long time friend of mine and partner of GCW. That’s my friend Julian who runs a company called Concert Crave. He also operates venues such as the House of Independence in Asbury Park and the Webster Theater in Hartford, both venues that GCW run at. So when we realized our dates were overlapping, of course that was a conversation very early on. ‘What can we do here? How can we how can we make this sick?’ As it approached the week of and they finally approached Fetty Wap, he was down. He was game and he rolled in that day with his entourage. They came in backstage. They were so cool. I cannot stress enough, Fetty was down for whatever, never balked once at the idea of swinging light tubes or cutting a promo. It was his idea to come out to Stone Cold Steve Austin’s music. He insisted on it. I laid out to him how I would like the segment to go and he was down with all that and then he threw in his own two cents, including when he asked Tony Deppen what his name is and dropping the ‘It doesn’t matter what your name is,’ that was literally all Fetty on the fly. So he definitely knew what he was doing. He was very comfortable in there. He had a blast. When he came to the back, he was ecstatic and talking about wanting to do it again. I don’t know if and when our paths will cross again, but I hope they do. I would love to actually see him get in the ring and wrestle at some point. So really great experience with Fetty.”
