King Trevor Murdoch Reflects On Japan Run And Reunion With Vader In WWE

King Trevor Murdoch shares a story about Vader.

Trevor Murdoch has been active in the wrestling business for 27 years. Traveling all across the world, Murdoch has worked with a lot of wrestlers. He’s currently part of the NWA, where he recently became King Trevor Murdoch.

Speaking with Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful for a new interview, Murdoch talked about working with 2 Cold Scorpio and other wrestlers in Japan.

“He was a great teacher and a great leader. Also, him and Big Van Vader, I got to step into the ring with guys like Masawa, Marafuji, KENTA, Rikio, all the top stars in Japan. That time in my life really formed and created who I was going to be in the future. In Japan, you either have it or you don’t. There is no in between and those guys, if you don’t step up, they’ll beat you down until you want to go home. I always liked that challenge. Scorpio did a really good job of grabbing me by the wrist sometimes when I was making stupid mistakes. He smartened me up. I can’t lie on the fact of having Harley Race being my trainer opened up some doors for guys to be a little more open to speak to me.”

Sean Ross Sapp notes that Murdoch ended up facing 2 Cold Scorpio in Japan. Murdoch agreed that it was a full-circle moment and then told a similar story about Vader.

“It was. Same way with Vader, we got a chance to come back and work with him in Japan as well too. It’s funny, a little story about Vader. When I was with WWE, they brought him back in for a little stint to wrestle; I believe to wrestle Rob Conway. I hadn’t seen Vader in years, actually. I’m walking around in the back and I see him sitting on a box. He looks at me and says, ‘Hey, baby. What are you doing here?’ I looked at him with pride in my heart and I go, ‘I’ve got a job.’ It was nice to be able to let him know that all my hard work paid off.”
