Cody Rhodes: I Enjoyed WrestleMania 42 More Than I’ve Enjoyed Any WrestleMania Since I’ve Been Back

Cody Rhodes explains why he enjoyed WrestleMania 42.

On the first night of the show, Rhodes headlined the card by defending the Undisputed WWE Championship against Randy Orton. The build to the match was widely criticized, specifically due to the inclusion of Pat McAfee and Jelly Roll.

On the fifth episode of WWE Unreal Season Three, Rhodes described the situation as “full blown sacrilege”.

“Pat McAfee is a massive star. He has eyeballs on everything that he does. Should Pat McAfee be involved with Randy Orton going for his 15th championship? You think about things wrestling fans have gotten mad about in the past, this had the potential to be that. The crowd will say, ‘Hey, no, Pat should not be behind Randy Orton.’ It’s almost full blown sacrilege.”

Still, ‘The American Nightmare’ says that he never got angry or frustrated with the direction of the storyline.

“I never got on the side of being angry and frustrated. If we can’t take these ingredients and put them together and make something special, I don’t know if we’re worth the WrestleMania main event.”

As it turns out, Rhodes actually enjoyed this year’s WrestleMania event more than any WrestleMania show since he returned to the company in 2022.

“I probably enjoyed WrestleMania 42 more than I’ve enjoyed any WrestleMania since I’ve been back because I got tasked with, can you keep this on the tracks?”

Elsewhere in the show, CM Punk talked about a pitch that he made for himself and Cody Rhodes for John Cena’s last match. Check out his full comments by clicking here.
