Ronda Rousey: MMA Is Just Becoming Background Noise On Every Weekend, It Needs To Be A Huge Event

Ronda Rousey speaks on the downtrend of mixed martial arts events, noting that she hopes MVP continues to promote their events as huge.

Earlier this year, Rousey would return to the sport of mixed martial arts to face Gina Carano in one last fight, disposing of her fellow women’s MMA pioneer in quick fashion. In the lead up to the bout, Rousey was vocal against the way the UFC promote their events and more, with Rousey now continuing to mention the oversaturation of MMA with UFC events.

While speaking to Napa Knockout in a new interview, Ronda Rousey was asked if she will remain part of MVP promotions MMA bouts and if Nate Diaz will join her. Rousey would note that she hopes with or without her, MVP continue to treat their MMA events as huge.

“We’ll see, we need to reconvene and see what the future looks like at this point. I think everyone is just kind of decompressing and getting back to post that huge event fight life, and I think- what I hope they do in the future, whether with me or not, is that they continue to make their fights a huge event. Every single one a single huge event because that’s what’s missing in MMA. It’s just becoming on every weekend background noise and it needs to be an event. So anything that they do next, whether I’m involved or not, I hope that it’s something huge, and for something to be huge of that caliber again, I think Nate also needs to be involved again. I think he needs to be a mainstay.”
