Kevin Owens Pins Sami Zayn At SummerSlam, Earns Shot At Undisputed WWE Championship
CM Punk’s next challenger is Kevin Owens.
It had been advertised that starting the in-ring action of WWE SummerSlam night two would be a singles bout between Sami Zayn and Finn Bálor. The winner would earn a shot at the Undisputed WWE Championship.
Friday Night SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis appeared and announced that the man who defeated him at SummerSlam night one, GUNTHER, would be added to the match. Aldis would then go on to bring out a fourth member of the bout, the returning Kevin Owens.
Zayn was shocked to see Owens back. The two hugged each other and then immediately started brawling.
The conclusion of the bout saw Owens hit Zayn with a Stunner, which secured him the win and a shot at the Undisputed WWE Championship.
Owens had been out since mid-2025 after he underwent neck surgery. In his first match back, he earned a shot at CM Punk’s title.
