Back in 2022, WWE would file to trademark a term, ‘Bloody Brutes’, that would never be used on screen. Now however, a former WWE superstar has shared what the trademark was originally intended for.
While speaking to Under The Mat with Simon Miller, Luke Menzies noted that The Brawling Brutes (Menzies, Sheamus and Pete Dunne) were originally supposed to be named ‘The Bloody Brutes’ but the name was nixed due to the similarities with The Bloodline.
“I think originally it was supposed to be The Bloody Brutes, but we couldn’t be the Bloody Brutes because of The Bloodline.”
When asked about his initial call up to be paired with Sheamus, Menzies joked about his time in NXT.
“Well, they obviously saw my work just standing there in the car park before I walked into the building and thought, you know, I need a guy who can just stand behind me and do absolutely fuck all. So they went… (points) he’s my guy.”
