MJF Declines Ryohei Oiwa’s Invitation To Participate In 2027 NJPW G1 Climax Tournament

A comment from MJF was brought to Ryohei Oiwa’s attention.

The winner of the 2026 NJPW G1 Climax tournament is Ryohei Oiwa. He defeated Yuya Uemura in a 30-plus minute match and won the bout via submission with a headlock.

After Oiwa’s win, former AEW World Champion MJF took to X and noted that he’s the superior headlock wrestler.

“I’m the superior headlock wrestler.”

The tweet was brought to Oiwa’s attention during his post-G1 Climax press conference (via Tokyo Sports). Oiwa responded and invited MJF to participate in the 2027 G1 Climax.

“Well then, why don’t you bring that headlock and come up to next year’s G1? When that happens, I’ll take the title with a headlock myself.”

MJF then responded to Oiwa and wrote the following:

“Tell that fucking dork Oiwa he’d be lucky to lace my boots let alone meet me in a ring… About as much of a fake tough guy as Andrade, Ospreay and omega.”

A user on X told MJF that he would not do the G1. Here’s how he responded:

“You’re right, I won’t.

People who do that do it to prove they are the best in the world.

I got nothing to prove.

I already am.”

Oiwa will get his IWGP Heavyweight Championship match at King of Pro-Wrestling on October 12th.
