Alex Windsor: I Think Brawling Birds Happened Really Organically, I Love The Journey That We’ve Been On Together
Alex Windsor enjoys the organic nature of the Brawling Birds.
The duo of Windsor and Jamie Hayter have been going strong for well over six months at this point, picking up wins over other teams like Triangle Of Madness, MIT, and The IInspiration.
Speaking with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp for a new interview, Alex Windsor talked about not getting to team with Hayter in the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Title Tournament in 2025. This only allowed for the pairing to come together organically just a few months later.
“I think as soon as the tag tournament was put out there, I was a bit like, ‘Oh, if I’m in it…’ My first pick
would have been and my first thought would have been Jamie. But I like that we weren’t just put together
because there was a tag tournament. We were sort of put together organically in a sense of like, ‘Well,
these two actually work really well together. Let’s let’s give them a try. Let’s sort of build up the characters
first as well.’ We did a lot of cameos and a lot of build up before we actually turned up together. So I like
that we got the characters of us together first before people actually saw us wrestle. So it put the ideas in
people’s heads first and then we became the team. I think it’s just happened really organically and I love
the journey that we’ve been on together as a tag team this year.”
Later on in the interview, Windsor talked about her process of coming up with ideas for the team with Jamie Hayter.
“Absolutely. Yeah, we’re constantly thinking about, ‘Oh, my God, this would be a really good idea.’ I think
more so, obviously, we’re always talking about wrestling ideas. But I think we’re really trying to hone in
on our characters, because I think that is what really sets us apart and makes us really unique, is that the
characters that we have and the British heritage we’re trying to keep really strong in who we are as a tag
team. So we’re constantly thinking we could go off this sort of person, could go off this sort of character. I
think that’s what I love is being able to be in a team where the ideas that we have are endless and we’ve
got so many avenues we can go down. I think that’s what a lot of wrestling is about. You want to be able
to not just be the wrestler, you want to be able to have those characters that people can relate to and
people can think, ‘Oh, that’s a nod to this film or that TV show.’ So I think having that is just an added
layer of why I love our team.”
