Maya World speaks about wanting to go to the WNBA, but became more realistic later on in her life, leading to pro wrestling.

Maya is a young pro wrestler who has already achieved a lot in the pro wrestling world, having made it to the finals of the 2026 Women’s Owen Hart Cup, where she would meet one of her heroes, Mercedes Mone in the finals. Soon after, Maya would capture the AEW TBS Championship, going on to defend it at this past weekend’s AEW All In event, where she took part in the Buy-In for the event.

While speaking to the Dallas Morning News in a new interview, Maya World reflected on wanting to get into the WNBA, noting that now she looks back on it and realizes it was not realistic, something that she got as she got older.

“I wanted to go to the WNBA, and looking back now, it’s like … girl,” World said. “But everybody who was a little girl playing basketball, that was your dream. I kind of got realistic as I started getting older.”

Elsewhere in the same interview, Maya reflected on getting to compete at AEW All In. You can read more about that here.
