Mickie James Says One Of The Ideas WWE Came Up With For Her Debut Was To Work As CM Punk’s Manager

Mickie James recalls a scrapped pitch that would’ve seen her work as CM Punk’s manager in WWE.

In October 2005, Mickie James made her WWE debut as a Trish Stratus superfan. Her character would later become obsessed with Trish, and lead to a WrestleMania match between the two. But this wasn’t the original plan for her debut.

Speaking with Ben Veal for a new interview, James said that one of the ideas WWE had come up with regarding her debut was to work as CM Punk’s manager.

“I was supposed to debut probably five times with different ideas that they had come up with or whatever. None of them stuck, including debuting with CM Punk on Sunday Night Heat as his manager. Vicky Adams, I think. I kept going, like, ‘Where does this Vicky Adams keep coming from on my Wikipedia? Somebody delete that. I don’t know who she is.’ But I guess that was the name that they used when I was supposed to debut with him. It didn’t. It lasted that night is what it did.”
