Xia Brookside Says She Had Clearance To Use ‘Where I Belong’ Song In NXT UK, But WWE Did Not Approve
Xia Brookside had clearance to use the song.
The reigning Knockouts World Champion in TNA Wrestling is Xia Brookside. She’s been in possession of the belt since June 2026.
The champion guest appeared on Knockouts and 3 Counts and spoke about her current TNA theme, ‘Where I Belong’ by ‘Simple Plan and State Champs.’ Brookside stated that the song was cleared for use when she was still with WWE as part of the NXT U.K. brand, but WWE did not approve it.
“I would love State Champs to play me to the ring live. That is a dream that I just — when is it happening? When can we make that happen? Because if it wasn’t for them, I never would have got the Simple Plan song. They’re on the Simple Plan song. So, I went to one of their gigs in the UK. I bought tickets; I was (a) super big fangirl of State Champs. I managed to talk to them back and forth and they invited me to another one and I’m like, ‘Well, I already bought tickets…’ and they were like, ‘No, just come along, hang out with us,’ blah, blah, blah. I was like, ‘What is happening?’ They were great. They’re the sweetest guys, and I wanted to use ‘Where I Belong’ for my music and they got me the rights for it whilst I was in NXT U.K., but it wasn’t approved. It wasn’t approved, even though we could use it. I’m like, ‘Damn,’ so as soon as I came to TNA, I was like, ‘I want this song. I want it, I need it.’ I spoke to their managers, we got the approval for it. It was the best thing that could have happened. The best.”
Brookside successfully defended the Knockouts World Title against Gabby Forza on the 9/10 Thursday Night iMPACT.
