Tyler Breeze Recalls Pitching Team With Xavier Woods, Woods Never Being Told About The Pitch Outcome

Tyler Breeze was on the chopping block early in his NXT tenure when he had his evaluation with Bill DeMott, who was the head trainer at NXT at the time.

Speaking to Certified Mark Show, Breeze recalled the evaluation and how it went so poorly that he definitely thought he was getting fired.

“If I’m going down, I’m going down swinging. He said, ‘You don’t make any pitches.’ That was where I went, ‘Actually, we did make a pitch. You never got back to me on it.’ He goes, ‘What pitch?’ I said, ‘Me and Woods as a tag team.’ He goes, ‘We got back to you guys.’ I said, ‘No, you didn’t. We pitched it. We showed you the gear. We showed you everything. Why did nothing come from it?’ He goes, ‘We told Woods about it.’ I said, ‘Is that right?’ ‘Yeah.’ It was a tiny room, I opened up the door, and I go, ‘Woods, did they ever tell you anything about our tag team?’ He goes, ‘No.’ ‘Okay.’ I look right back at Bill, and I go ‘oof.’ I see what’s happening here and it’s a bunch of bullshit. From there, I got fired up and I started going [pitching multiple things]. As I’m swinging, Canyon (Ceman) goes, ‘Lets end it here before it goes down this path.’ At the time, right before I went and did the evaluation, I had a staph infection that I saw the trainer for. ‘What does this mean?’ ‘You have to go get it drained. You’ll be out for probably two weeks.’ We had this thing; it went horribly. I said, ‘You know what, I have a staph infection; I’ll be back in two weeks.’ I walk out and Woods is like, ‘What is that?’ I said, ‘By far the worst evaluation that anyone could ever get I’m definitely fired. Good knowing you, I guess,'” he said.

Woods and Breeze had a short-lived tag team called the Hollywood Express during their time in FCW.

The two would reunite as partners on the gaming channel UpUpDownDown.

Woods is currently signed to AEW, wrestling as Austin Creed. Breeze is a free agent.
