Injuries in wrestling are a common danger for the performers in the ring, but sometimes, injuries can happen that fans can be unaware of in the moment, with wrestlers revealing them at a later date.

While speaking to Fightful Overbooked’s In The Weeds, Stu Grayson spoke about a moment where he severed a nerve in his finger with barbed wire.

“The only time I’ve ever cut my hand really well was actually in Ring of Honor, when we did myself and the Righteous versus Dark Order, at some point in the match, I am wrapping my knee with barbed wire. So then I’m going to knee strike John Silver in the face, and as I’m wrapping my leg, I’m stepping on the barbed wire. So as I pull, the barbed wire went inside my finger so far that it actually cut the nerve. So I lost the use of my finger for like a month. But the doctors told me, don’t worry, that’s going to get back to normal. You didn’t sever the nerve completely. So just wait a bit, and it’s going to come back, and about a month or two later, I had feelings in my fingers again. But that’s like a thing. It’s like one of the worst injuries I’ve had, and it’s nothing, really. It’s me. But it’s the kind of thing that no one in the ring even knew about. So the fans can’t even say, ‘oh, my God, he almost cut off his finger.’ Like, you don’t even see it. But it was so painful. But you can’t even brag about it because it’s just dumb.”

Elsewhere in the same interview, Stu spoke about his recent matchup with Josh Alexander. You can read more about that here.
