Orange Cassidy has shared that he built a ring in his backyard after making the decision that he wanted to try out pro wrestling.
Cassidy is a unique pro wrestler in his own right, as his ‘sloth style’ is unlike any character in and outside of the ring. Cassidy has been an active pro wrestler for over 22 years, and has been a staple of AEW programming since it’s inception in 2019. Now, he has discussed his origins as a pro wrestler.
While speaking to Show Me St Louis in a new interview, Orange Cassidy noted that following his first wrestling show, he built a ring in his backyard.
“I saw wrestling on TV, and I was like, wow, that’s cool. I think I can do that. Built a ring in my backyard, and now I’m still doing it. All this time, so. Yeah, it was one of those things. I went to a show in person, and after that, I was hooked. (Who were you wrestling in the backyard?) My neighborhood friends and, whoever wanted to fight me in a ring built by scraps of wood.”
Elsewhere in another recent interview, Cassidy spoke of his worst injury in his wrestling career. You can read more about that here.
