Former UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre returns to action after a four-plus year absence to fight UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping in the main event of UFC 217.

When it comes to a potential super fight between GSP and UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor, the UFC President in Dana White is open to the idea.

“GSP would need to defend his title first at 185 [pounds] and Conor has some business to handle himself,” White told TSN. “It would be a year and a half down the road before we would even talk about that. Everybody’s intriguing for Conor McGregor. I mean, if you look at Conor McGregor at 145, 155 and 170 [pounds], everything is intriguing.”

McGregor’s next bout in the Octagon isn’t known at this time and he hasn’t competed in the promotion since defeating Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205.

For his part in the potential super fight, the former UFC Welterweight Champion has stated in the past that he isn’t targeting a fight with McGregor.

UFC 217 takes place on Saturday, November 4 from Madison Square Garden in New York, New York with Michael Bisping and Georges St. Pierre headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
