TNA founder Jeff Jarrett is back with the promotion, and one of the current top stars on the roster is quite pleased with that fact.
During an interview with Tom Feaheny, Eddie Edwards discussed the return of Jarrett in a behind-the-scenes role earlier this year and had high praise for Jarrett.
“Myself and Davey come in and he had gone by then, I’d heard good things about him, I wrestled with him; now he is back with the company it’s an exciting time as he has such a great wrestling mind,” Edwards said.
After Anthem Sports acquired the majority ownership share of the promotion late last year, news broke in January that Jarrett was returning to TNA.
Jarrett has brought back some of his former allies and creative collaborators to the promotion, including Scott D'Amore and Dutch Mantell. Jarrett was less than impressed with what was produced in his absence, referring to the promotion's 2016 work as "a black eye on the industry" as part of an interview during a recent trip to the United Kingdom.
Edwards previously has praised the approach of the new ownership in TNA, noting a rise in morale.
After WWE bought WCW in 2001, Jarrett and his father, Jerry Jarrett, founded TNA the following year. The younger Jarrett played a key role in the company both backstage and in front of the cameras for the better part of a decade before ultimately resigning from his executive position in 2013. His last on-screen appearance came in 2015 as part of storyline between Jarrett's new endeavor, Global Force Wrestling, and TNA.
The company has undergone a re-branding of sorts since the ownership change, all but dropping the TNA moniker altogether and emphasizing Impact Wrestling as the defining name of the promotion.
