WWE Raw Results For 8/21: John Cena Returns To The Raw Brand, Jason Jordan Gets A Big Challenge & A Dream Tag Match

Cruz Del Toro Reveals He's Undergone Successful Surgery Following An Injury

WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman make their way to the ring to start off the show. Heyman grabs the microphone before introducing himself and Lesnar, Heyman tells everybody what they already know and that is that Lesnar is still the WWE Universal Champion. Heyman talks about how Braun Strowman caused Lesnar to briefly get stretchered out of the ringside area, then says Lesnar refused any kind of medical attention and still won the Fatal 4 Way Match.

Heyman says there is nobody in the WWE or the UFC that can conquer Lesnar, Braun Strowman makes his way to the ring. Strowman and Lesnar go face to face as Heyman exits the ring, Strowman goes for a choke slam before nailing Lesnar with a big boot followed by a few power slams. Strowman then picks up the WWE Universal Title and poses with it as his music sounds.

Before the match begins, Enzo Amore has his microphone and talks about his long history with Big Cass, then says everything comes to an end tonight. Amore then brings a cart full of weapons to the ring.

Brooklyn Street Fight

Big Cass vs. Enzo Amore

The match begins with Cass quickly dropping Amore on the entrance ramp, Amore then rolls the shopping cart into the side of Amore. Cass picks up a hurt Amore and he throws him into the barricade, Cass throws Amore into the ring and then he follows him in there with a chair. Amore actually gives the chair to Amore, Cass boots Amore right in the face as we go to a commercial break. We return from the break to see Cass working over Amore with strikes in the corner, Amore fights back and he catches Cass with a jaw breaker.

Cass recovers and he nails Amore with an avalanche in the corner, Amore tries fighting back again as Cass stares at the crowd. Cass gets angry before propping Amore on the top turnbuckle and attacking his back with strikes, Cass misses a charge and Amore sends him to the arena floor. Amore goes for the chair and a recovering Cass stomps on his hand, Cass then catches Amore with a slam before crashing to the mat with a knee injury.

The referee calls for the bell because Cass is unable to continue due to an injury.

Winner: Enzo Amore

In the locker room, Emma complains to Dana Brooke about Sasha Banks being the WWE Raw Women's Champion, Emma then says she started the women's revolution. Emma starts insulting Nia Jax as she appears behind her, Jax says Emma will need CPR after their match tonight.

Nia Jax vs. Emma

The match begins with Emma attacking Jax with a few strikes, Jax quickly knocks Emma down and nails her with a few elbow drops. Jax then picks up Emma and throws her across the ring, Jax would then hit Emma with an avalanche. Jax misses a charge in the corner and Emma nails her with a few strikes, Jax catches a leaping Emma with a Samoan drop for the three count.

Winner: Nia Jax

Elias is shown walking backstage.

Elias is in the ring and he performs his new song for everybody in attendance, but is eventually interrupted by R-Truth.

Elias vs. R-Truth

The match begins with Truth nailing Elias with a few punches as he was backed into the corner, Truth then catches Elias with a spine buster. Elias tries fighting back and Truth catches him with a leg lariat, Truth tries assaulting Elias with strikes until the referee breaks it up. Elias catches Truth with a strike to the back followed by Drift Away for the three count.

Winner: Elias

WWE Raw GM Kurt Angle appears on the entrance ramp to announce a surprise for the fans, that surprise is the returning to the Raw Brand John Cena. Cena makes his way to the ring while the crowd goes through their back and forth chants, Cena wonders if people were expecting him to appear tonight. Cena says that he say Angle backstage and he was invited to WWE Raw, Cena says he came to get face to face with a certain WWE star. Roman Reigns makes his way to the ring as he interrupts Cena, Cena says that Reigns is exactly who he was looking for.

Reigns says that Cena runs his mouth about him to much on Twitter, Reigns then questions whether Cena will run his mouth to his face. Cena tosses his microphone down and Reigns does the same thing, The Miz and The Miztourage interrupt and make their way out to the ring. Cena corrects the way that The Miz pronounces the name of the arena, The Miz wonders if he interrupted a special moment. The Miz says he is sick of waiting for his moment as Cena and Reigns get another one, The Miz complains about being in the pre-show match at WWE Summerslam.

Cena says he is going to leave the ring and The Miz gets in his way, The Miz then proclaims that WWE Raw is his show. The Miz says he deserves to be in the main event of every WWE show, The Miz says he has earned respect for the last 12 years and wants his moment. Cena grabs the microphone before saying he will team with Reigns to faces The Miz and a partner of his choice, The Miz starts turning down the match with Samoa Joe makes his way to the ring. Joe grabs the microphone and says that he is going to be the partner of The Miz for tonight, Joe says he is sick and tired of Reigns calling the ring his yard.

Joe turns his attention to Cena before attacking him, The Miztourage hits the ring and Reigns takes that team out. Joe tries locking Cena in the rear naked choke until Reigns breaks it up with a superman punch, Reigns and Cena have a stare down to end things.

Rich Swann, Cedrick Alexander, Mustafa Ali & Gran Metalik vs. Drew Gulak, Ariya Daivarai, Tony Nese & Noam Dar

The match begins with Metalik catching Gulak with a springboard arm bar, Metalik then catches Gulak with a missile drop kick. Ali and Daivari get the tags before Daivari works Ali over in the corner, Ali recovers and he catches Daivari with a top rope high cross body. Swann tags in and he works over the arm of Daivari, Nese tags in after Dar refuses to tag into the match. Nese catches Swann with a few strikes to drop him to the mat below as we go to a commercial break, we return to see Gulak working over the leg of Swann. Gulak controls the leg of Swann while stomping on his back, Swann recovers and he nails Gulak with an enzaguri.

Alexander and Nese get the tags from their respective partners, Alexander quickly nails Nese with an enzaguri. Alexander then catches Nese with a springboard clothesline for a near fall, Gulak interferes and he is sent out of the ring, Metalik then takes out Nese and Daivari with a moonsault to the arena floor. Alexander nails Nese with the Lumbar Check for the three count.

Winners: Rich Swann, Cedrick Alexander, Mustafa Ali & Gran Metalik

Charly Caruso interviews Neville backstage, who wonders why people didn’t expect him to defeat Akira Tozawa for the WWE Cruiserweight Title at WWE Summerslam. Titus O’Neil and Tozawa arrive to confront Neville, O’Neil says it will be Neville versus Tozawa for the title tomorrow night on 205 Live.

Non-Title Match

Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose (WWE Raw Tag Team Champions) vs. The Hardy Boyz (Matt & Jeff)

The match begins with Ambrose and Matt working over each others arms, Matt traps Ambrose in the corner before tagging Jeff in. The Hardy Boyz attack Ambrose with some double team moves for a near fall, Ambrose rocks Jeff before tagging Rollins in Rollins nails Jeff with a running boot to the face for a near fall, The Hardy Boyz regain control and nail Rollins with a series of double team moves. Matt slows things down by holding Rollins in a headlock, Rollins gets free and he eventually sends Matt into the turnbuckle.

Ambrose tags in and he double teams Matt with Rollins for a near fall, Ambrose then attacks Matt with a series of chops. Rollins and Jeff get the tags from their respective partners before a staredown ensues, Matt and Ambrose start brawling on the arena floor. Jeff eventually knocks Rollins to the arena floor as we go to a commercial break, we return to see Rollins cracking Jeff with an enzaguri. Ambrose and Matt get the tags from their respective partners, Ambrose drops Matt with a few clotheslines before sending him out of the ring. Ambrose misses a dive out of the ring and then Matt sends an interfering Rollins out of the ring, Jeff tags in and takes his opponents out with a suicide dive.

Jeff throws Ambrose back into the ring before catching him with an avalanche in the corner, Rollins hits the ring to get Ambrose out of the way of a diving Jeff. Rollins controls the head of Jeff while keeping him grounded, Ambrose tags in and he stomps away on a downed Jeff. Ambrose would then lock Jeff in a modified STF, Rollins tags back in and they double team Jeff in the corner. Ambrose tags back in and he mauls Jeff with strikes in the corner before tagging Rollins back in, Jeff recovers and he takes out both opponents with a Whisper In The Wind.

Matt tags in and he immediately cleans house on the opposing team, Matt eventually catches Rollins with a bulldog for a near fall. Matt then catches Rollins with a middle rope elbow strike, Ambrose tags in as Rollins misses a charge in the corner. Ambrose and Rollins hit Matt with an elevated sling blade for a near fall, Ambrose then sends a charging Matt and Jeff to the arena floor. Ambrose and Rollins catch The Hardy Boyz with a tandem suicide dive, Matt recovers and he drops Ambrose neck first on the top rope. Matt returns to the ring and he nails Ambrose with a side effect for a near fall, Matt goes to the top rope and Ambrose nails him from behind.

Ambrose climbs to the top rope and he battles with Matt up there, Ambrose knocks Matt off the top rope and Ambrose falls down as well. Matt catches Ambrose with a Twist of Fate before tagging Jeff in, Jeff goes for the swanton bomb and Ambrose gets his knees up. Rollins tags in and Ambrose cracks Jeff with a Dirty Deeds after a Rollins knee strike for the three count.

Winners: Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose

The Miz and The Miztourage offer Samoa Joe some praise for taking the match tonight, Joe tells Miz to shut up and he talks about a game plan for tonight.

WWE Raw Women’s Champion Sasha Banks makes her way to the ring, Banks grabs a microphone and she talks about her history in Brooklyn. Banks then says that the world needs Ric Flair to get netter from his health woes, Banks says she proved their isn’t a goddess on WWE Raw and just a boss. Banks says she plans on defending her championship the right way, but then Alexa Bliss makes her way to the entrance ramp. Bliss mocks the fact that Banks cannot successfully defended the title, Banks decides to mock Bliss as well. Banks says they can have their rematch right now, Bliss says she will have her rematch next week on WWE Raw.

Jason Jordan vs. Finn Balor

The match begins with Jordan scoring a takedown on Balor for a near fall, Jordan holds Balor down while doing some chain wrestling. Balor gets up and he eventually levels Jordan with a drop kick, Jordan goes for a handshake and Balor attacks him with some strikes. Balor holds Jordan down by keeping him in a headlock, Jordan recovers and he catches Balor with a power slam for a near fall. Balor recovers and he knocks Jordan out of the ring with a clothesline as we go to a commercial break, we return from the break to see Balor working over Jordan in the middle of the ring.

Jordan recovers and he drops a charging Balor with a clothesline, Jordan slams Balor to the ground before landing an elbow drop. Jordan would then catch Balor with a double under hook suplex for a near fall, Jordan follows the up by holding Balor in the butterfly lock. Jordan picks Balor up and attacks him with a few knee strikes, Balor gets free and he catches Jordan with a drop kick. Balor drops Jordan with a few clotheslines followed by a running chop, Balor knocks Jordan out of the ring before catching him with a drop kick. Balor moves to the ring apron and catches Jordan with a penalty kick, Jordan gets back in the ring and he nails Balor with an overhead release suplex.

Jordan catches Balor with a pear in the corner, Balor recovers to counter a hold from Jordan before landing an overhead kick. Jordan recovers and he smashes Balor into the turnbuckles a few times, Jordan charges at Balor before eating a kick to the face followed by a sling blade. Balor then hits Jordan with a shotgun drop kick followed by the top rope double stomp for the three count.

Winner: Finn Balor

Samoa Joe & The Miz w/Maryse & The Miztourage vs. Roman Reigns & John Cena

The match begins with Cena catching Miz with a bulldog, Joe quickly tags in and he attacks Cena with some strikes. Miz tags back in and he drops Cena before nailing him with a few running kicks to the face, Miz mocks the crowd and Cena nails him with a clothesline. Cena starts leading the wave and that allows Miz to hit him with a DDT for a near fall, Joe tags back in and he mauls Cena with strikes in the corner. Miz tags back in and he goes right to the top rope, Miz then catches Cena with a top rope axe handle drop for a near fall.

Miz misses a charge to the corner and Reigns gets the tag, Joe gets tagged in as well and Reigns takes out both members of the opposing team. Reigns catches Joe with clothesline strikes in the corner, Reigns then catches Joe with a running kick to the face. Reigns goes for a superman punch and Joe catches him with a uranage for a near fall, Miz tags in and he chokes Reigns on the middle rope. Reigns is thrown out of the ring and Bo Dallas interferes to hit him with a clothesline, Miz gets a near fall on Reigns when he is tossed back in the ring.

Miz waits for Reigns to get to his knees before nailing him with a ton of kicks, Reigns recovers and he nails Miz with a power bomb. Joe tags in and he nails Reigns with an elbow drop to the back, Joe slows things down by holding Reigns in the kravat. Joe corners Reigns before nailing him with an overhead kick for a near fall, Miz tags back in and he attacks Reigns with some more strikes. Reigns gets out of the ring before taking out The Miztourage, Reigns then knocks The Miz out of the ring and Joe throws him back in.

Cena gets the tag and he nails Miz with a series of shoulder tackles, Cena then drops Miz before attempting a Five Knuckle Shuffle. Joe interrupts and he locks Cena in a rear naked choke, Reigns accidentally nails Cena with a superman punch. Joe goes for a dive and Reigns catches him with a superman punch, Cena recovers to hit Miz with an Attitude Adjustment for the three count.

Winners: Roman Reigns & John Cena
