ABC Head Wants Darren Till’s Corner Suspended For Weight Cutting Methods

Darren Till recently headlined UFC Fight Night Liverpool, where he picked up a unanimous decision win over Stephen Thompson.

Association Of Boxing Commissioners (ABC) head Mike Mazzulli saw a video released from Till about the problems the fighter endured while weight cutting, which has lead the ABC head to say that he would’ve suspended the fighters corner for such egregious activity.

“I was appalled seeing seven people sit there and push this kid to the point where he lost his vision,” Mazzulli told MMA Junkie. “They should suspend those corner people that tried to help him cut that kind of weight, first of all.”

Till did report temporarily losing his vision during the weight cutting process and the fighter still missed weight for the encounter by 3.5 pounds.

Mazzulli also wants to see such extreme weight cutting measures stopped because its not worth seeing a competitor die to make weight.

“You’re going to be sitting there with a girlfriend, with parents, who lost their kid to something so stupid, for no apparent reason,” Mazzulli said. “What’s going to happen is you’re going to have a mother and a father losing their child over weight-cutting to fight – not in a fight.”

There has been no comment from the UFC on the matter, while MMA Junkie is also reporting that CSAC head Andy Foster will also issue a statement on the matter in the near future.
