UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov may have won in the main event of UFC 229, but also instigated a post-fight brawl that is still the talk of the MMA world many days after it happened.
Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov is Khabib’s father and he plans on punishing Khabib for what took place on that night.
“Probably all the same for Khabib, the toughest sanctions are my attitude,” Abdulmanap said to Ren.TV. “I will be very hard on this. I warned him. For me, discipline comes first.”
Khabib’s father has yet to reveal exactly what that punishment is going to be and its unknown if the public will ever find out. Khabib also knew the punishment was coming, with is something the fighter mentioned during the UFC 229 post-fight press conference.
If there is one thing that Abdulmanap says his team is known for, it would be their discipline.
“You can do whatever you want in the octagon; outside of it, there’s children, women, random people,” Abdulmanap said. “My team has always been known for its discipline, hence my sanctions to Khabib will be much stronger than the ones from UFC.”
The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) is also expected to punish the lightweight champion, as they have already withheld his fight purse form the event.
