The pair were originally slated to clash at UFC 260 but the bout was nixed after Volkanovski tested positive for COVID-19.

After a lengthy recovery, the UFC announced that Volkanovski and Ortega would serve as coaches on this season of The Ultimate Fighter, which is currently being streamed on ESPN+ every Tuesday night after a six-week taping period that wrapped up just weeks ago.

No location has been tabbed for the September 4th pay-per-view which is currently scheduled to be headlined by a light heavyweight title scrap between champion Jan Blachowicz and challenger Glover Teixeira.
