The long-awaited UFC featherweight championship clash is set for this September.
When speaking on MMA Fighting's Submission Radio, UFC President Dana White confirmed that UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski will defend his title against top contender Brian Ortega at UFC 266.
The pair were originally slated to clash at UFC 260 but the bout was nixed after Volkanovski tested positive for COVID-19.
After a lengthy recovery, the UFC announced that Volkanovski and Ortega would serve as coaches on this season of The Ultimate Fighter, which is currently being streamed on ESPN+ every Tuesday night after a six-week taping period that wrapped up just weeks ago.
No location has been tabbed for the September 4th pay-per-view which is currently scheduled to be headlined by a light heavyweight title scrap between champion Jan Blachowicz and challenger Glover Teixeira.
