Alexander Volkanovski Would Welcome Conor McGregor Matchup Following UFC 273: "That's Something That Intrigues Me"

Reigning UFC featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovski, would be interested in a potential matchup with former two-division UFC champ Conor McGregor.

Volkanovski spoke with reporters at yesterday's media day for this weekend's UFC 273 event and brought up McGregor's name as one he'd like to add to his resume. The 33-year old Australian star has to first get past Chan Sung Jung in the main event of Saturday night's card, but even mentioned he would move up in weight to make a fight with the Irishman possible.

UFC Extends Partnership With Riyadh Season

“Everyone’s going to throw [Conor McGregor] out there cause it’s the money fight and all that type of circus around it and all that but again this is a guy he’s held this belt in my division as well,” Volkanovski said (h/t MMA Fighting). “I’ve taken out the other guys, I haven’t had a chance to do him. Obviously, that’s something incredible but he ain’t making featherweight. If I’ve got to move up to take that title, I would, so that’s something that intrigues me. When you talk money, hype, all that type of stuff but not just that, someone else that’s held this [UFC title] and I want to take them all out. The legends of my division, I want to take them.”
