Amanda Nunes Says Cyborg Will Lose In Potential Rematch

Two division UFC champion Amanda Nunes will defend the women’s bantamweight gold against former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm at UFC 239.

Former UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion Cyborg lost the title to Nunes at UFC 232 and Nunes says the result would be the same in a potential rematch.

“I think this is the fight to make,” Nunes told MMA Junkie. “145 is bad right now – nobody in that division. Cyborg is always the most dominating woman on the planet if (she didn’t lose to me). That’s how it was, and she thinks she wants to prove something, but she knows she’s going to lose again. But I feel like she should make (the rematch).”

Cyborg will also compete before a potential Nunes rematch, as she faces Felicia Spencer in the co-main event of UFC 240.

Nunes can’t even understand why Cyborg is fighting Spencer in the first place.

“Something happened,” Nunes said. “But I’m ready for the UFC – I’m hoping they’ll have the rematch. For some reason, she is going to fight (Spencer instead of me) next. I don’t know why.”

UFC 239 takes place on Saturday, July 6 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Jon Jones and Thiago Santos headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
