Antonio Trocoli Released By The UFC After Failed Drug Test

Antonio Trocoli earned a contract with the UFC a few weeks back after scoring a first round submission win over Kenneth Bergh on Dana White’s Contender Series Season 3, Episode 3

However, it has been revealed by Combate that Trocoli failed a pre-fight drug test issued by the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC).

UFC President Dana White also stated the promotion will release Trocoli during a media scrum after Dana White’s Contender Series Season 3, Episode 6

“We’re going to release him,” White said (via Guilherme Cruz of MMA Fighting). “He shouldn’t be using anywhere for any reason.”

Trocoli failed for a substance known as nandrolone, which is an anabolic steroid that is banned by the NAC. Trocoli’s team has told Combate that they believe their fighter took a contaminated substance and will have his supplements tested.

The now released fighter came into the Contender Series while riding a two fight winning streak, having defeated the duo of Rodrigo Carlos and Fabio Moreira. Trocoli’s win over Bergh could be overturned to a no contest by the NAC, but no decision has been made by the athletic commission at this time. The fighter could also be suspended for a year since this is Trocoli's first failed drug test.
