Big Nog Says Lil’ Nog Will Retire After Next Fight

Antonio Rogerio Nogueira was scheduled to fight Trevor Smith in two months at UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo, but Nogueira suffered an injury and the bout was called off.

Rogerio’s older brother in Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira says that when Lil’ Nog fights again, it is going to be the final bout of his professional MMA career.

“Rogerio is announcing that his next fight should be the last in his contract, the last of his career,” Nogueira said during a UFC Sao Paulo media day (via Marcel Alcantara of AG Fight). “We were going on a seminar tour in China, and he was feeling this injury and couldn’t train well. (So he) announced he was withdrawing from the card. If he’s not 100 percent, being his last fight, the one that matters the most, to close his career well, he decided to try the card in February.”

Big Nog said that Lil’ Nog would end his career with a win during the media day while mentioning that Lil’ Nog will fight again this February. There are currently no UFC events announced yet for 2020, so a February date in Brazil is not confirmed at this time.

The younger Nogueira brother has yet to comment on the potential end of his professional MMA career, which began over eighteen years ago.
