Chad Mendes Announces Retirement

Longtime UFC veteran and three time UFC Featherweight Title challenger Chad Mendes has announced his retirement as a professional MMA fighter.

The now retired Mendes first informed ESPN of his decision to hang up the gloves, bit would also post the following statement on Instagram:

 

Mendes earned a professional MMA record of 18-5-0 before retiring, picking up notable wins over Steven Siler, Erik Koch, Cub Swanson, Rani Yahya, Darren Elkins, Clay Guida, Nik Lentz, Ricardo Lamas and Myles Jury. Mendes last competed at UFC 232, where he suffered a second round TKO loss to Alexander Volkanovski.
