Colby Covington: “I Want The Best Friends Turned Enemy Fight With ‘Street Judas’ Jorge Masvidal”

Former UFC interim welterweight champion Colby Covington is coming off of a win over former UFC interim lightweight champion Tyron Woodley and now the fighter has his sights set on BMF Champion Jorge Masvidal.

Covington not only wants a bout with Masvidal, as Covington wants to see if Masvidal can walk the walk.

“Where’s Jorge Masvidal at?” Covington said after UFC Vegas 11 (via Mike Bohn & John Morgan of MMA Junkie). “He needs to come see me for all the talking he’s done. Come see if can walk the walk. I talk the talk and I walk the walk. I want to see Jorge Masvidal in that octagon. … I want the best friends turned enemy fight with ‘Street Judas’ Jorge Masvidal. He’s been talking all that talk reckless. He used to talk at the old gym, ‘I’m going to beat your ass, I’m going to do this, I’m going to do that.’ OK. Let’s see it. Come see me in the octagon then. He’s going after that California soy-boy Nate Diaz because he’s going after easy fights. I’m going to expose him like I did Tyron Woodley tonight.”

Masvidal and Covington used to train together at American Top Team (ATT), but their relationship has since turned sour and Covington left the team before UFC Vegas 11.

UFC President Dana White is open to that bout, assuming that Masvidal wants it as well.

“Maybe he fights Masvidal,” White said. “We’ll see if Masvidal wants that fight.”

The BMF Champion is rumored to be fighting Nate Diaz for a second time in 2021, but that hasn’t been made official at this time.
